Great lamp!
OK -- if you say the base is marble I'll take your word for it. Mine looks like plain black rock. Not really a problem -- I didn't buy this for the base!
Overall this is an extremely high-quality lamp. It looks gorgeous and is mechanically sound -- which is important with something as big as this. This is a big lamp with a HUGE arc and it will be a definite conversation piece in your living room. Ours is in my photo studio lounge and clients always comment on how beautiful it is.
Assembly was not trivial -- some mechanical skill is required. It took me about 45 minutes to put it together properly. HIghly recommended.More detail ...
